Check your weight today and always, as you should also check your blood pressure, blood sugar and eye pressure. Excess weight may not be good for your heart and other critical organs. They may be just as bad for your spine and your knees. The knees may have problems on their own if we overuse them and do not eat well for them. This week, we had three enquiries in the office regarding knee health.
One was gout. Another was oesteoarthritis, the third was of knee replacement. The knee cap may be so damaged that it would have to be replaced at a cost of about #3 million each with a plastic cap. That is not very good news in view of the emerging knowledge that we live in a plastic polluted world that many of us may be plastics polluted. Last month, some American doctors added their voices to the debate that plastics cause CANCER!
We can remove some pressure on the pelvic girdle and the knee caps by reducing our weight today if it is heading for the ceiling. Do another check. It is called the BODY MASS INDEX (BMI). The Body Mass Index analyses how much muscle, flesh and fat we carry about us. Each is supposed to be a in a certain ratio with our age and height. Listen to what Google says about it:
“Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. A high BMI can indicate high body fatness. BMI screens for weight categories that may lead to health problems, but it does not diagnose the body fatness or health of an individual”.

Some other day, I will address the pelvic girdle. It is the bones that fractures when we talk about hip fracture. More women than men appear to suffer from it. When the hip is fractured in advanced years, the two ends are usually held together by IRON. You know oxygen and water cause RUSTING of IRON. Is the rust if iron not a poison in the body.
Please let us avoid these problems if our weight is going overboard. Not only us. What of our fathers, uncles, aunts, mothers and siblings, friends and neighbours. Who can pass the message round.
